Assistant Professor: I am an assistant professor conducting research and teaching at South Dakota State University, along with my husband. I'm working on projects that try to make a difference in our lives, from designing safe-sex campaigns to studying how classic behavioral theories can help with better research design. Another project deals with developing an understanding, and subsequently, creating materials on the HPV vaccine. My biggest project/love deals with understanding mobile-mediated navigation and affordances (e.g., Norman & Skinner, 2007; Bandura, 1986), using traditional psychological theories as guidance, but practice by actually having participatory engagement. I earned my BA, MA, and PhD at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Go Boilermakers!|
Art: I enjoy painting and illustrating and have been doing so ever since I could pick up a pencil. I was trained classically in using water colors, pencils, and acrylics, and my world was transformed when my dad brought home an early version of Adobe Photoshop when I was 13. Now, I enjoy the best of both, often mixing media.
